Basiclly, after Trigun and Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu yu Hakusho is the best anime ever made. And Hiei, a demon convicted who weilds a sword and constantly wants to taste the blood of his opposers. He is soon joined by Kuwabara, a fellow classmate who's only goal is to beat Yusuke in a street fight, but never does, Kurama, a collected individual who is " bishonen", and is constantly pushing himself to his own suicide. His main weapon is a weapon of concentrated aura blown from his finger as a gun. He is confronted by the "grim reaper"(really a young lady in a kimono who rides on an oar) who says his death was not supposed to happen, so he gets another chance at lif, but becomes a detective for the underworld. In a freak accident, he gets run over by a car and dies. The series opens with Yuske Urameshi, a 14 year old loner who has no friends, never attends school, and gets into fights just to blow off steam. The series goes on for 104 episodes with 7 sagas, the last three of which are the longest. What started as a fairly episodic series featuring a creature of the week slowly shifted into a more serialized. It is one of VERY few anime where the main character isn't all about virtue and peace and all that other stuff that makes animes look like comic book heroes. Penned and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, Yu Yu Hakusho is a battle manga that follows the exploits of fourteen-year-old Yusuke Urameshi and his inner circle of misfits as they battle the forces of evil while navigating adulthood. As Kuwabara is walking home from school, Akashi follows him and the kids from before jump him (Akashi's anticipation for their arrival implies that he arranged for them to jump Kuwabara so that he would fight them and get expelled). Yusuke Urameshi arrived just in time to see his teacher slain, and assaulted Toguro in a rage, only to be knocked away by one devastating blow. Kuwabara and his friends reluctantly promise not to fight. Akashi tells them that if they cannot go one week without fighting, then they will get expelled from school and he will get Kuwabara's friend, Okubo, fired from his job.Īs Okubo's mother is sick and cannot work, and his siblings are still little, this would leave Okubo's family with no money.
